Countryside Alliance Ireland Deer Stalking Course Level 1

Countryside Alliance Ireland is pleased to announce that it is holding a Deer Stalking Course Level 1. The course will be run over the three days of 3rd, 4th and 5th of March 2017. The course will run from Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.

 

Location:
The classroom work will be conducted at the Scottish Woodlands Office at 2 Drumadoon Rd, Cloughmills, Ballymena BT44 9LJ with the practical session being held on Blakiston Houston Estates at Altarichard.

Overview
This intensive two day training course is delivered by one of our experienced instructors with a blend of theoretical and practical skills, fulfilling the requirements of the DSC 1 assessment.

What is involved?
Deer biology and ecology.
Legislation.
Stalking techniques and taking the shot.
Deer identification.
Safety.
Shooting.
Large Game Meat Hygiene.

Qualification
Deer Stalking Certificate 1

Accrediting Body
DMQ

Candidates who complete all 5 elements of the DSC 1 assessment will have their papers internally verified by the assessment centre (SRUC Barony Campus). Provided there are no problems, we will then advise DMQ who will then issue a DSC1 certificate.

Entry Requirements
Some knowledge/experience of Stalking is advantageous but not a requirement

Deer Stalking Certificate 1

What you will need to bring
Pen and paper and manual. You will require a deer legal rifle for the shooting assessment scheduled for the Sunday. Rifles available on request.

Cost
£290.00 including assessment and training manual, rifle hire, ammunition, tea/coffee and lunch (Sat).

Cancellation policy
Should there be insufficient bookings, we reserve the right to cancel the course. In the interests of fairness we will aim to provide candidates notification of cancellation as soon as possible prior to the advertised start date.

We strongly recommend that fees for any accommodation you book are refundable as we will not be responsible for any losses incurred by candidates.

If the course is oversubscribed we can arrange your booking to be transferred to a future course date.
