It is difficult to predict what will happen following the election tomorrow and which party will take the majority. When we vote for our political representatives we are putting our trust in them to represent our views in Parliament, hopefully for the greater good.

MEDIAWATCH: Countryside Alliance animal welfare consultant, Jim Barrington, will be on Michael Portillo's show "Portillo's State Secrets" from 6.30pm on BBC2 this evening, 1st April. Jim will be talking about animal welfare and hunting and reports that he thoroughly enjoyed filming with Portillo.

Countryside Alliance Executive Chairman Barney White-Spunner writes: I was in Brussels last week at a meeting of European fieldsports body, FACE, of which the Countryside Alliance is an active member. I am honoured to be FACE's UK Chairman and to represent British sporting interests at the highest level and I can feed back some interesting points from the meeting.

All Firearms Dealers should now be in receipt of the dealers implementation letter from PSNI FEB, Be advised that these new requirements are not instead of electronic registers, they are the law from the 31 December 2014 regardless of whether you have a paper or electronic register.

Countryside Alliance Ireland (CAI) welcomes the decision by the Department of Justice for Northern Ireland (DOJNI) that it is not a requirement for Firearms Dealers (FD) in Northern Ireland to hold records electronically. This decision brings Northern Ireland into compliance with the amendments to the European Firearms Directive, which come in to force on 31 December 2014, as part of the UK decentralised electronic record keeping of firearms.

On the 22nd May, European Parliamentary elections are taking place across the island of Ireland, local council elections are taking place in tandem and we would like to stress to our members that you must be registered in order to vote. You have up until the 6th May to register to vote.

Coleraine Borough Council is proposing to introduce a number of dog control orders which, if passed, will be severely detrimental for all responsible dog owners and their canine companions.
Plans proposed include a complete ban of dogs in the Council’s play parks, public spaces and open areas, and limited access (prohibited from 1st June to 15th September) on the West Strand, East Strand and Arcadia, Whiterocks, Castlerock, Downhill, Salmon Rock and West Bay beaches.
