NI Elections - Vote tomorrow!

It is difficult to predict what will happen following the election tomorrow and which party will take the majority. When we vote for our political representatives we are putting our trust in them to represent our views in Parliament, hopefully for the greater good.
 
It is extremely disheartening that the politicians have given little or no thought to the electorate who voted for them a little over 8 months ago by allowing the NI Executive to collapse. But, we must move on!

Countryside Alliance Executive Chairman Barney White-Spunner writes: I was in Brussels last week at a meeting of European fieldsports body, FACE, of which the Countryside Alliance is an active member. I am honoured to be FACE's UK Chairman and to represent British sporting interests at the highest level and I can feed back some interesting points from the meeting.
I have some good news to report in that the move to reopen the Firearms Directive, being pushed by some as a means to reduce trafficking of illegal firearms, has drifted in the last couple of months.

All Firearms Dealers should now be in receipt of the dealers implementation letter from PSNI FEB, Be advised that  these new requirements are not instead of electronic registers, they are the law from the 31 December 2014 regardless of whether you have a paper or electronic register.

Firearms Dealers in Northern Ireland not required to keep electronic records

Countryside Alliance Ireland (CAI) welcomes the decision by the Department of Justice for Northern Ireland (DOJNI) that it is not a requirement for Firearms Dealers (FD) in Northern Ireland to hold records electronically. This decision brings Northern Ireland into compliance with the amendments to the European Firearms Directive, which come in to force on 31 December 2014, as part of the UK decentralised electronic record keeping of firearms.
 
Contrary to previous advice from the DOJNI individual dealers can decide to keep their records electronically or in paper form.

Responsible Dog Owners Need Your Support

Coleraine Borough Council is proposing to introduce a number of dog control orders which, if passed, will be severely detrimental for all responsible dog owners and their canine companions.

 

Plans proposed include a complete ban of dogs in the Council’s play parks, public spaces and open areas, and limited access (prohibited from 1st June to 15th September) on the West Strand, East Strand and Arcadia, Whiterocks, Castlerock, Downhill, Salmon Rock and West Bay beaches.
