PSNI set date to end Paper Firearms Applications

In January 2017 the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Firearms and Explosives Branch introduced a new online application process for anyone applying for initial/re-grant and variation of a firearm certificate.  At that time we made a commitment to keep a dual process of both online and paper for a minimum of six months

With effect from 1st January 2018, all first-time applicants for a Deer Hunting Licence (DHL) in the Republic of Ireland will be required to be certified as competent in knowledge of deer, including aspects such as hunting regulations and the law, under the provisions of the Deer Alliance Hunter Competence Assessment Programme (HCAP) or equivalent, before being issued with a DHL.
This applies whether their application is based on State forestry or on private land.

For administrative reasons, the tender competition previously launched by Coillte in April had to be suspended. Issues have now been resolved and Coillte again invite tenders for licences to hunt deer and game on designated areas of their forest estate

No further restrictions on lead ammunition as DEFRA rejects flawed report
