Women Call The Shots

 Almost 50 women attended ‘Women Call The Shots’ at Foymore lodge on Saturday 8 March 2014; an event held in celebration of International Women’s Day.


The ladies who travelled from all over Northern Ireland to the event, took part in an array of activities including, clay pigeon shooting, archery, off the road driving, target shooting and fly tying.

Broughgammon Crowned as Ireland’s Rural Oscar Champion for 2013

Broughgammon Farm, a family run business specialising in goat meat (Cabrito), is the Irish Champion in the 2013 Countryside Alliance Awards, aka the Rural Oscars.  The farm, which is run by two young brothers, is based in Ballycastle, on the North Antrim coast. 


A commendation has also been given to Harrisons of Greyabbey; a farm shop, restaurant, gift shop and nursery on the Ards Peninsula.

Stray hound

Stray Hound Found in Monaghan/Cavan

This female foxhound was found straying around the Monaghan/Cavan border last week.  If anyone is missing a hound, or you know of any hunts that were in the area from the 5th to 9th January, please contact Monaghan Dog Pound on 042 9664236 / 087 9634121 or the Dog Warden on 087 6623876. The Dog Pound opening hours are 11am - 4pm Monday to Saturday.

NI Firearms Dealer Security Specification - Update

Countryside Alliance Ireland recently attended a PSNI Firearms Engagement meeting to outline our concerns in relation to a number of pertinent firearms related issues. During the meeting on 27th November, we spent some time discussing the issue of dealer security specification.  It was a useful exchange of views and the PSNI stated that the implementation of a dealer security specification must be fair, proportionate and reasonable.
