Proposed Regulations to Prohibit the use of Lead Shot over Wetlands

The Department of the Environment is seeking views on proposals to introduce statutory restrictions on the use of lead shot in or over wetland areas in Northern Ireland. The Unitied Kingdom (UK) is a contracting party to an International agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (the Agreement). The Agreement seeks to promote the conservation of migratory waterbirds and covers 118 countries worldwide.

Countryside Alliance’s Game-to-Eat campaign has revealed the results of a new survey of shoots, and it’s good news for game: 90% of shoots feel the market is at least as strong as five years ago and well over half feel it is stronger.

Preparing a Risk Assessment for your Shoot

A recent case reported in Shooting Times magazine highlighted the importance of health and safety on shoots. Seven hunt saboteurs were acquitted on 14th April of aggravated trespass because the shoot in question did not have a written health and safety policy.
