COVID safe principles for game shoots

The ‘COVID safe principles for game shoots’ has been further updated in light of recent restrictions, the need for shoots to comply with any additional restrictions that may be in place on the day of the shoot in the current climate, and to provide further guidance on the provision of shoot lunches and refreshments. This can be read here.

Northern Ireland restrictions on gatherings and events as at 25/9/2020

The 15 person limit for gathering outdoors, currently does not apply to gatherings of a particular nature, including those organised for:

  • cultural, entertainment, recreational, outdoor sports, social, community, educational, work, legal, religious or political purposes
  • a sports event or activity in an indoor arena not capable of facilitating 5,000 or more spectators

The organiser must have carried out a risk assessment which meets the requirement of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2000 and take all reasonable measures to limit the risk of transmission of the coronavirus.

In effect, indoor and outdoor gatherings, not in a private dwelling, for sporting purposes are permitted if the conditions set out above are met.

Clubs who need a COVID risk assessment template for shoots should contact CAI directly.

As the situation remains fluid we would ask members to check with the NI Direct website and follow current guidelines.
