Rough shooting, wildfowling and deer stalking can continue

Rough shooting, wildfowling and deer stalking allowed under daily exercise.
CAI had received a large number of calls form members confused and seeking clarity on the matter. We had written to local MLAs and MPs on behalf of you our members calling for guidance on the matter and that country sports be permitted. Thankfully greater clarity the regulations has now been provided by the Executive, with confirmation that shooting is a legitimate form of exercise in England during the national lockdown, subject to daily exercise conditions.

If you cannot comply with these conditions, then you must not shoot as a form of exercise. Driven game shooting or other group shooting activities do not comply with the requirements and must not take place.

The social, physical and personal benefits of participating in shooting have been evidenced and recognised. Whilst taking part in outdoor shooting activities as a form of exercise remains permissible, please consider the personal benefit relative to the societal benefit of staying at home to protect the NHS and save lives.

Gary McCartney NI Regional Director said: “We would like to thank the many MLA’s who have raised this issue on our behalf, Minister Poots and Francie Molloy for forwarding our query to the Executive office that has confirmed that these can continue in line daily exercise.”.

Daily Excerise rules are:
by yourself
with the people you live with
with your bubble
or, when on your own, with one person from another household
You should not travel more than 10 miles from your home in order to take exercise. If, when you arrive at your proposed destination, there are crowds which will make social distancing difficult you should find an alternative place to exercise.
