WJ Martin (Jim) 1942 – 2016
We are very sad to report that W J Martin (Jim), a long standing CAI member and supporter passed away on 7 June 2016.
Jim became one of our more familiar members a few years ago, when he phoned to renew his membership. While he was chatting away he took the opportunity to inform us that as a retired professional from the printing industry, he was not too impressed with the text layout of our magazine. Jim even offered to assist us with our future publications should we require it!
Jim and his wife Myrtle became fairly regular visitors to the CAI office when his daughter Dawn and grandchildren Nathan and Euan moved home close by and in between times there were phone calls and emails.
Jim was actively involved in many groups and associations, including the church and the Six Mile Water Trust. He and Myrtle loved to dance and Jim would regale us with tales of his dance trips away to Donegal.
Fishing trips with his sons Michael and Philip (the Moy River being a favourite) were much enjoyed and he also encouraged Nathan and Euan to get involved in fishing.
This is only a small insight into the man we knew. Jim was not only our member, he was our friend and he will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with Jim’s family circle. To close using Jim’s own familiar salutation – God Bless.
